Web Wiz Forums 10.14 Released

Web Wiz ForumsWe are pleased to announce a service release of Web Wiz Forums version 10.14.

This latest service release fixes a number of bugs related to the WYSIWYG Post Editor listed below:-

  • Firefox 17 not displaying Carrot (cursor) in the empty Post Editor till after the first character is typed
  • Corrected detection of Internet Explorer version when server is using Russian locale
  • Improved detection of empty Posts

Web Wiz Forums 10.13 Released

Web Wiz ForumsWe are pleased to announce the release of Web Wiz Forums version 10.13.

This latest release adds support in the WYSIWYG Post Editor for the desktop version of Firefox 17 as well as support for Firefox Mobile and Opera Mini on Google Android.

YouTube video support have been updated to use the newer IFrame format from YouTube to improve support for YouTube Videos in mobile devices.

Web Wiz Forums 10.12 Released

Web Wiz ForumsWe are pleased to announce the release of Web Wiz Forums version 10.12, which adds support for Internet Explorer 10, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012.

New and improved features include; 

  • Support for Internet Explorer 10, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012
  • Improved support for StopForumSpam - Checks with the StopForumSpam service to block known spammers from registering.
  • Improved support for SSL encryption for sensitive sections including Registration, Login, Profiles, Admin Area, and Private Messages.
  • Visitors with IPv6 Addresses now do not crash Web Wiz Forums.
  • Plus many other enhancements and bug fixes.

Web Wiz Forums Anti-Spam Prevention

No SpamSpammers are a huge problem with forums these days with people in developing countries being paid to spam forums with links in order to try and increase search engine rankings for their employers websites.

At Web Wiz we understand that spam is a real issue with forums and have developed a range of anti-spam prevention measures and tools within the Web Wiz Forums software.

Anti-spam Prevention Tools available in Web Wiz Forums include:-

  • Checking with StopForumSpam’s list of known spammers to prevent spammers registering
  • Configurable Spam Filter
  • Email Activation of Member Accounts
  • Post Approval by Admins or Moderators
  • IP Blocking
  • Email Address and Email Domain blocking
  • Post Flood Control to reduce the number of posts a member can make within a given time frame

New features include;

  • StopForumSpam - Checks with the StopForumSpam service to block known spammers from registering.
  • New SPAM Cleaner Tool - One stop tool for removing, blocking, and cleaning up messages from a spammer.
  • New SSL Support - Native support for SSL encryption for sensitive sections including Registration, Login, Profiles, Admin Area, etc.
  • EU Cookie Directive Compliance – New EU Rules on the use of Cookies becomes law in the UK as of May 2012. Updates to Web Wiz Forums allow you to comply with these new laws.
  • New Date/Time Format – New date and time formats displays time since in hours and minutes for dates under 24 hours.
  • HTTP XML API updated to version 2.0.
  • Plus many other enhancements and bug fixes.
