The Internet uses IP addresses in order to work, the present version of IP Addresses, known as IPv4 is set to run out in some regions within the next 12 months. A new IP Address system known as IPv6 is slowly being introduced.

Web Wiz was allocated our first IPv6 Address allocation from RIPE at the beginning of this year. We have created the following page on IPv6 to inform customers about what IPv6 is and our deployment of IPv6 across our network.

1 to 10 Year UK Domain Name Registrations

Starting from today you will be able to register and renew UK Domain Names through Web Wiz for between 1 and 10 years.

Nominet, the non-prophet body who manage the UK name space have changed the way UK Domain Names can be registered allowing 1 to 10 year registrations instead of 2 year period registrations.

This change will give customers the opportunity to lock in their UK Domain Names for up to 10 years, giving greater security, longer period between renewals and can also aid with Search Engine Optimisation.

The price for a single year for UK Domain Name Registrations and Renewals will remain the same at �3.95, while UK Domain Name Registrations and Renewals for multiple years (eg. 2 to 10 years) will be at the new lower price of just �2.95 per year.

Web Wiz Becomes an Independent Local Internet Registry (LIR)

Web Wiz is pleased to announce that we are now a Member of RIPE (R�seaux IP Europ�ens) and a Local Internet Registry (LIR) .

This places Web Wiz with other major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and allows us to make direct IP address allocations on behalf of our customers.

Although the internet is mostly unregulated, the allocation and registration of Internet number resources (IP Addresses) is controlled very carefully by five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs).

The R�seaux IP Europ�ens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation and serves as one of five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). Its service region incorporates Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The RIPE NCC is responsible for the allocation and assignment of Internet Protocol (IP) address space, Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) and the management of reverse domain names within RIPE NCC service region.
